Not bad at all

I like the detail as well as the shading, very realistic portrait. My main issue is I'm not entirely sure what kind of expression this is and not sure what the feeling is, but regardless, it is still a very nice painting. She actually reminds me a lot of my wife, Chie; you claim this to be a self portrait, do you mind me asking if you are of Asian/Oriental descent? Chie is Japanese, so that is why I may see similarities. The right eye does seem a little disproportionate as well, but really only under harsh scrutiny.

MusicalMahem responds:

I'm not from any Asian/Oriental descent but my eyes do have the almond shape to them. Strange, I know, but I do see many flaws with this picture but it was my first time using my drawing tablet so with this one there's plenty of room for improvement. The expression i had chosen was a mixture of a few expressions: confusion, lost, worry, and so on. Thanks again :D

*Sniffle*

This is a beautiful drawing. The detail is simply gorgeous. Glad to meet someone who appreciated this film, I know so many people who loved OldBoy then said this movie was terrible by comparison because it wasn't "Over the top" enough. Honestly this was one of the few movies that managed to have me in tears a bit at the end, arguably the best dramatic film in ages.

So yeah, good to find another kindred spirit and someone with such talents to paint a tribute to it. Good going, mate.

PandaGogo responds:

Amen! I loved Oldboy, but this one was heart wrenching. Just because it didn't have the whole Oedipus Rex Greek tragedy-from-hell suffering on the outside going didn't make it less powerful. I loved it, and it made me cry too. Although, when she smashed her face in the cake I lol'd, then I cried 'cause it was so sad. Lol.

Incredible

I love that style. Often when I see such colours mixed in with horror, it comes off as a fucked up cartoon character, but you definitely avoid that and it makes the painting a bit... erm, well, freakier. I don't think the colour purple has ever been able to repulse me (Unless you count the book. Hurr hurr hurr I'm so clever.) but here it certainly does. I'm into body horror, and this is GREAT body horror.

Unrelated, but do you like Chronenberg at all....? :P This painting just reminds me of some of the grotesque horrors he would make back in his body horror days, and I get the same "Loss of humanity" theme from this picture that is found in his movies.

Anywho, great work. I'll have a look at your other stuff too. =D

Yay

I love your "Freaky" series. Hell, I love all of your work. The joke itself (OMG MARIO IS TRIPPIN) is pretty old, which is the only reason I gave it a 9, but your "Freak the fuck out of people by ruining their childhoods yet making them laugh at the same time" joke redeems it. I love your style, its still a little bit Jhonen Vasquez (But that's a good thing) and of course your own unique style as well. :V Either way, great painting, mate.

Very Cool

I dunno why but this style kinda reminds me of the stuff I sketch when I'm bored. Very cool pic though, a good bit creepy as well as funny.

Bloody Brilliant

This is fuckupedly awesome. I dunno why though, but it makes me think of an (even more) freakishly mutated version of Beavis and/or Butt-Head.

Chickenlump responds:

That's not as bloody brilliant as one would grow to expect.

Win

Oh hi, its a new spengbab! I fucking love Spengbab. Seriously, if you don't know the joys of Spengbab, feel free to look it up. Great pic :D

Wow. Incredible.

I really like your style, it reminds me of my grandfaters art style, albeit a little less angular. I too felt the pic looks a little like Gandalf, but that's not a slight, its still an original drawing.. Plus Gandalf kicks ass, so even if it was him it'd still be awesome :P

Awesome

I love the detail. Kinda reminds me of my wife's artwork, actually. I'll have to see some of your other stuff..

Incredible.

Just like the guy below, I think this is very Jhonen Vasquez like. That's a good thing. Was he your inspiration?

You ever get the feeling like something is in your brain gnawing away at your sanity? Yeah, that's me.
